For many Scouts, their scouting journey begins in Cub Scouts. Cub Scouts begin to learn and live the values embedded in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Cub Scouts participate in Pack and Den meetings and activities as they earn advancement aligned with their grade in school culminating in the Webelos rank. Cub Scouts is adult led and takes place largely in the family.
The Scouts BSA program is designed for youth ages 11 through 17, ages appropriate to on their own in the outdoors. While adults serve as key leaders who support the troop, the troop is Scout led. The Scout leaders plan the troop’s programs and support the growth and advancement of their fellow Scouts.
Crossing over from Cub Scout pack to Scout troop should be seamless. When Webelos Scouts are ready for this cross over, they and their families should be comfortable with the Scouts and adult leaders of their new troop, have an understanding of their role in the troop and activities, and be excited to continue their Scouting journey. The Webelos cross over ceremony clearly signals this special transition to the next level of Scouting, including the presentation of the Arrow of Light badge.
Natick has two Scout troops. We encourage all Webelos to attend as many troop events as are open to them. These open events are designed to help the Webelos Scout and their parents learn more about Scouts BSA and the troops themselves. Below are our next events open to Webelos.
