Summer Camp 2022 is in the Books
With faces dripping with sweat from a week of scorching temperatures, 19 scouts and leaders from Troop 7 were laughing and sharing memories as they met their families, gear in tow, after wrapping up their summer camp experience. This year, the scouts returned to Camp Squanto for their summer camp destination. Camp Squanto is located on LeBaron R. Barker Scout Reservation. It is a 650 acre year-round camping facility located deep in the woods of Myles Standish State forest in Plymouth, MA.
During the six-night stay at Camp Squanto, scouts had the opportunity to participate in week-long sessions to earn up to five merit badges. When not in merit badge classes, scouts had the chance to bond around campfires, spend time on the water, play games, and meet scouts from other troops. The penultimate event of camp week is the Apache Relay. While Troop 7 was unable to defend their 2021 title, they finished fourth – although if you ask some of the scouts it was third.
“This was my first scout camp experience and it was absolutely incredible! I was able to earn three merit badges and earn my scout rank. Most of all, because I just crossed over, it was great having the chance to really get to know my fellow scouts.”
— Andy M.
Participating in scout camp is annual opportunity for the scouts and occurs each summer. For an entire week, scouts get immersed in the scouting life. Stay tuned for information about Summer Camp 2023.
